Why Is Descaling Important?

The Right Descaler

beanarella Premium Descaler of 100% natural origin with water drops - gentle descaling for coffee machines

Proper descaling has a huge impact on coffee quality

Over time, scale builds up in your coffee machine. Scale deposits gradually reduce the brewing temperature of the machine. The coffee no longer heats properly and in extremely scaled machines, the coffee eventually tastes sour.

How often you should descale depends on the hardness of the water you use. Generally, you should descale your coffee machine every 2-3 months. At the latest, when the coffee no longer heats properly or tastes sour, it's time to descale your machine.

A common mistake

Unfortunately, citric acid descalers are very often used. This is well-intentioned, as citric descalers are generally 100% biodegradable and come from natural resources, but a citric descaler progressively damages coffee machines. In particular, the internal tubes of the machine are damaged.

We also don't recommend descaling with vinegar. Vinegar can also damage the tubes in your coffee machine and affect the aroma of the coffee.

Quality Descalers

Quality descalers are a bit more expensive, but your machine will thank you for it. If you maintain your coffee machine properly, it should last about 10 years. Saving in the wrong place can drastically reduce the machine's lifespan.

We offer a quality descaler for our capsule machines. This descaler has been tested under laboratory conditions and the interior of the machines has been analyzed. Our descaler not only descales very well, it also contains natural additives that have a protective effect on the tubes in your coffee machine.
