Swiss Coffee Company AG is a company based in the Rhine Valley in Eastern Switzerland and was founded in September 2011. We focus on developing compostable products in the coffee sector. With the beanarella coffee capsule, we succeeded in bringing the world’s first compostable coffee capsule to market.
Innovation and sustainability - that is our credo. Since the very beginning of our company, we have continuously worked on developing and improving our products. After creating the first compostable coffee capsules, we went on to develop the world’s first compostable coffee packaging.
Both our coffee capsules and our coffee packaging are not only fully compostable, they are also made largely from renewable raw materials.
Enjoyment and sustainability in one.
For our coffees, we use only selected coffee beans from 100% fair trade and 100% organic farming. Did you know that the largest share of the CO2 footprint is created during the cultivation of the coffee itself? Organic farming can reduce CO2 emissions by more than 50%. A huge potential benefit for the environment. After crude oil, coffee is the second most traded raw material in the world. Unfortunately, most coffee companies still refuse to switch to organic cultivation. Even today, organic coffee accounts for only around 6% of global trade.
Our used coffee capsules are transformed not only into high-quality compost, but also into biogas. We use this biogas to roast our coffees. We are the only coffee company able to demonstrate such a sustainable cycle.
